Obituary

William J. Kocian
July 12, 1941- April 30, 2020

William "Bill" passed away at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife Shirley, three children Billy, Lisa and Craig, two grandchildren Ryan and Ashley, his sister Brenda and brothers Frank and Mark.

Bill, the son of Francis and Muriel, was born and raised in Norwalk. In his early teen years, he entered the Marine Corps and with his great strength and determination became part of the Special Forces Recon Unit. He learned life skills while being deployed around the world jumping from airplanes and trudging through the jungles. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, a Marksmanship Badge and the CT Veterans Wartime Service Medal. He completed his service and was honorably discharged, Bill was a true patriot.

Shortly after, Bill and Shirley met through mutual friends and married two years later. They moved to Wilton to raise their children where Bill coached his sons' soccer, lacrosse and go karting teams for many years. He spent 35 years working as a Plumber/Fitter and was a member of the Plumbers Union. Once retired, they moved to the lake and spent their time boating and swimming with friends. Bill also loved his classic cars and was a regular at the local car shows where his cars won many awards.

Bill was the hardest working man we knew. He was always willing to lend a hand and had a smile to share. He was our inspiration and will be missed dearly by all.

There will be a ceremony at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Wilton on Friday, May 8th at 11am. Due to the current restrictions, the event will be for immediate family members only.
