Wendy Warnecke passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, in her home at Meadow Ridge in Redding, CT. Born January 23, 1950 in Bronxville, NY, and raised in Mamaroneck, NY, she was the daughter of the late Warren T. and Mildred Warnecke.

Wendy followed in her father's footsteps to become a teacher, after receiving a master's degree in education from Wheelock College in Boston.

For 30+ years she taught first grade in the public elementary schools in both Mamaroneck and South Salem, NY. She also spent a few years teaching kindergarten and second grade.

After spending summers in Ocean Park, ME, for many years, Wendy retired there in July 2010. She was an involved member of the community, where she made many long-lasting friendships and opened her home to family and friends year-round. Two years ago, she moved permanently to Meadow Ridge to be closer to family.

Wendy was an avid reader, guitarist, animal lover and mah-jongg player.

She is survived by her loving family members, brother Wayne Warnecke, sister Laurie Morrison, and niece Amy Morrison, as well as longtime partner Andy Drelles.

A private celebration is planned.
