Obituary

With profound sadness we announce the passing of our loving mother, Theresa Louise Rook.
Known to most as Terri, she passed away peacefully on November 15, at the age of 67 in
Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. Terri lived life to its fullest, even after her ovarian cancer
diagnosis more than five years ago. She not only continued working until her retirement, she
also traveled more in the last five years than some people do in a lifetime. She had such a
positive outlook on life. Through her we know what grace, courage and perseverance look like.
Terri was born August 26, 1953 and raised in Stamford, Connecticut. She attended college at
St. Michael's in Vermont. After graduating, marrying, and starting a family, she moved to
Middletown, New York where she found her passion for educating children. She earned two
Master's degrees from SUNY New Paltz in Elementary Education and Library Science while
raising her two daughters and working full time. An avid book lover, her degrees allowed her to
share her love and passion for reading.
She spent the last 20 years in Pennsylvania where she continued to be an elementary school
librarian. She was passionate about exercise and health, completing two marathons including
the Marine Corps Marathon (which she finished ahead of Oprah!). She was a passionate
gardener, loved building flower beds and rock walls, loved puzzles (jigsaw and crossword),
reading, walking with friends, and over the last few years became very interested in politics.
Terri was a dedicated mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, but the role she cherished the
most was being Nana to her 5 grandchildren: Allison, Nicole, Jeffrey, Bennett, and Sara. She
spoiled her grandchildren with unconditional love. When each grandchild turned 11, she took
each of them on their own special vacation, usually involving Disney. They each cherish their
memories of their individual time with her.
Terri was an experienced traveler and you couldn't ask for a better travel partner or guest. In
addition to her Disney trips and cruises with her grandchildren, she also visited several
countries including Ireland, England, Italy, and France. She loved spending time at the beach
with family, especially Cape Cod. Another passion of hers was skiing and she was able to enjoy
this on both the East and West coasts.
Terri is survived by her daughters, Kristen Juzaitis and Natasha Williams, her son in-law Erik
Williams, and her grandchildren, Allison Juzaitis, Nicole Juzaitis, LJ Juzaitis, Bennett Williams
and Sara Williams. She is also survived by six brothers and sisters and their spouses: Katae
Moquin, Albert and Mary Grace Rook, Patti and Joel King,William and Hwang Kyeong Rook,
Gretchen and John Lucera, and Eric and Renee Rook, as well as many loved nieces and
nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Albert and Katherine Rook and her sister, Heidi
Rook.
A lifelong lover of animals, Terri always had pets in her home including many dogs and cats
over the years including Bernese mountain dogs, and most especially her beloved dog Molly. In
lieu of flowers or other gifts, please consider donating to your local SPCA chapter in Terri's
name.
Mass will be held Tuesday, November 24 at 11am at St. Patrick Church in Redding, Connecticut
