Obituary

Susan Mary Abbott, 96, from Wilton, Connecticut and North Largo, Florida, passed away surrounded by her loving family and Beatrice Thomas on January 3, 2017 at her residence in Wilton. Susan was born in Redding, CT, son of Carl and Susan Stolle.  She grew up on her parent's "Walnut Grove Farm" in the Farmingville section of Ridgefield,CT. In 1943, Susan married Harry R  Abbott of Wilton and had been married 68 years before his passing. Susan and Harry had met at a square dance at the Wilton Grange Hall.  She graduated from Danbury State Normal School, now WCSU and taught in one room school houses the last being in Devon, CT. Susan and Harry owned Abbott's garage in South Norwalk, CT and after retiring, Susan and Harry worked in the antique and collectible business.  Susan was an member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Wilton Volunteer Fire Department, St Peter's Lutheran Church, the Wilton Playshop, and she volunteered with several charities.  Susan was an excellent cook and liked to garden and travel.
Susan is survived by her three sons and spouses; James (Debbie) of Wilton, CT, Richard (Marianne) of Ringwood NJ, and Harry W.(Patty) of Redding CT., six grandchildren, Mike, Chris, Jackie, Shannon, Heather, and Robert, and 6 great grandchildren,  Victoria, Emma, Alexandra, Miranda, Addison, and Isabelle.  Susan is also survived by sister in laws, Caroline Strempel, Isabella Abbott, Ruth Stolle  and Marge Abbott and brother in law Kenneth Abbott. Susan was pre-deceased by her siblings, Charles, Emma Gene, Margaret, George,and Dorothy.
Services will be held at the Bouton Funeral home on January 8, 2017 from 2 to 5 PM . A church service will be held at St Peter Lutheran Church, 208 Newtown Ave, Norwalk on January 9, 2017 at 10:00 AM with burial services following at Hillside cemetery in Wilton.  Donations in Susan's memory can be given to the St Peters Lutheran Church in Norwalk.
