Ronald Steven
Calabrese
Oct 10, 1946 — Aug 20, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce that Ronald Steven Calabrese, 78, of Wilton, CT, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on August 20, 2025. He was born October 10, 1946, in Manhattan, son of Albert and Mildred (Dorio) Calabrese and raised in the Bronx. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Maria (Alfalla), his two daughters Lisa (Jim Newfield) and Tara (Anthony Manna), grandchildren Matthew, Olivia, Caitlin and Thomas, and his sister Angela. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister Anna.
He proudly served his country in the Sea Bee's division of the US Navy during the Vietnam War and was last stationed in Puerto Rico where he met and married Maria. They returned to New York where he started a real estate career, which lasted over 40 years in New York and Florida.
Ron had an adventurous spirit and a generous heart. He loved spending time with people, especially his family and friends. He loved playing paddleball - in the Bronx for 50 years and in Florida - playing tennis and playing pickleball at the Wilton Y with friends and family. He was a friend to many, had a wonderful sense of humor – always with a joke up his sleeve -, and loved cooking (and eating) and sharing his food with friends and family.
He was always willing to try something new (skydiving, scuba diving), travel (Bhutan India, Vietnam, Costa Rica, Thailand, Van Cortlandt Park) or just spend time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral mass with Naval Military Honors will be held on Friday September 5, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Wilton, CT. A Celebration-of-Life reception will be held immediately following at Our Lady of Fatima Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VA Hospital in West Haven, CT (https://www.va.gov/connecticut-health-care/work-with-us/volunteer-or-donate/#make-a-difference-e-donate)
