Obituary

Robert Francis Hansen, Sr. of Bethel, CT, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026. Bob, affectionately known as "Jobber" to his family and friends, was born and raised in Stamford, CT, and graduated from Stamford High School with the class of 1957.

Following graduation, Bob worked for the Electrolux Corporation before finding his true calling in public service. In 1969, he joined the Greenwich Police Department, beginning a dedicated 25-year career. He started as a Patrolman and proudly worked his way through the ranks to become a Detective, retiring from the force in 1994.

In 1961, Bob married the love of his life, Nancy. Together, they shared a beautiful and inspiring marriage that spanned 65 years. In 1971, they moved their family from Stamford to Riverside, where they deeply rooted themselves in the local community. Bob loved giving back and served for many years as a coach for the Police Junior Babe Ruth baseball team. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Nancy of Bethel; his son, Tom (Jen) of Redding; and his daughter-in-law, Brenda of Shelton. He was the proud grandfather of Matthew, Kristyn, Nicole, Kendall, Tyler, and Connor. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Robert Jr.; his parents, Gertrude and Henry Hansen; his brothers, Henry and Peter; his sister, Margaret; and his daughter-in-law Christine Hansen.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 15, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bethel, CT. In accordance with Bob's wishes, there will be no calling hours.
