Nancy Jane Sell was born on May 21, 1931. She went home to be with the Lord on September 2, 2023. She was predeceased in 2019 by her husband of 69 years (Carl Ellis Sell). The couple met at Philadelphia College of Bible in 1949. After their marriage they moved to New Canaan, CT and then Wilton, CT where she has lived for the past 36 years.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents (Irving Louis and Alida Violet Jones), her brother (Richard) and four sisters (Juanita, Geraldine, Betty Anne, and Priscilla). She is survived by her older sister Lucy Chapman of Sebring, Florida.
She loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. She spent many hours at her typewriter and then computer writing short stories, poems, plays, songs, and two novels. As an adult and mother of three, Nancy went back to college and then attended Wright Tech in Stamford, CT where she earned her LPN degree.
Nancy was active for many years at Grace Evangelical Free Church in Stamford where she had attended since childhood, teaching Sunday School, directing the Junior Choir, singing in the Senior Choir, serving as church pianist and both Missions and Sunday School treasurer. She sang in the choir at Hope Evangelical Free Church of Wilton where she also served as a deaconess.
Nancy loved to read, write, travel, garden, entertain, cook, bake, sew, garden, and crochet. She enjoyed being with people and was always ready to help a friend, neighbor, or stranger in need.
Nancy is survived by; two daughters; Nancy Ruth Brasel (Mike) of Franklin, TN; Janet Carol Sell of Wilton, CT; a son Daniel Richard
Sell (Carol) of Prompton, PA; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Nancy's internment will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Wilton on Saturday, October 28 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service and luncheon at Hope Church in Wilton at 11:00 a.m.
