Nancy
Pitts-Schleifer
Jan 23, 1946 — Aug 15, 2019
It is with great sadness that the family of Nancy Pitts-Schleifer announces her passing on Thursday, August 15th, 2019 at the age of 73.
Nancy was born in Virginia on January 23, 1946 to John and Eileen (Devaney) Pitts. She grew up in New York City in the Rockaway neighborhood of Queens, and moved to Redding following her marriage in 1970. Nancy enjoyed working as a professional wedding photographer before she had children, but she was especially proud of her work as an investigator for the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities where her inquisitive nature and attention to detail served the public well. She treasured the winters she spent at Mount Snow in Vermont during her twenties, but loved the years spent raising her children even more. Nancy was a lifelong fan of Frankie Valli, and following her retirement she traveled to many of his concerts across the United States and Canada. Known by friends and family for her expansive knowledge of pop culture, she was an almost unbeatable opponent when playing Trivial Pursuit.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Stanley Schleifer, her sons Colin (Erin), and Ian, as well as grandsons Brody and Andrew.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Saturday August 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street, Georgetown CT 06829. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will immediately follow at Umpawaug Cemetery, Redding.
