Michael R. Chelednik age 56 of Redding, CT passed away on April 4, 2016 in his residence. An avid golfer and a Mets fan, Mike was working on LaGuardia Redevelopment Program as an employee of AECOM / URS Corporation as the Project Manager responsible for the Terminal, building commissioning, code compliance and sustainable design. His was so proud to be part of this project.
As MRC-Architect Mike worked as a consultant to Halcrow on the Port Authority of NY & NJ consolidated Tenant Construction Alteration Process Manual.
Between 1998 and 2008 Mike worked on the American Airlines Terminal at JFK International Airport. First as the Architect of Record for many of the moves in preparation of the demolition of part of Terminal 9 and the new construction, Phase 1. Then as a representative of American Airlines responsible for commissioning and activation of Phase 2. He Finished as the Architect of Record for Phases 2A, 3 and 4, responsible for the design, commissioning and activation teams.
Hé was an active member of the AIA and the Building Commissioning Association (BCA). For the AIA Mike was on the Best Practices Committee since 2009. In November 2011 he began working on the Technical Design for Building Performance KC. He also represented the AIA on several Building Commissioning groups such as ASHRAE Building Performance Alliance, as member of the International Accreditation Service (IAS) Technical Advisory Council working on AC-476 - Proposed Accreditation Criteria for Organizations Providing Training and/or Certification of Commissioning Personnel and as a member of the NIBS/DOE Commercial Workforce Credentialing Council Subject Matter Expert on the Building Commissioning Professional JTA Committee. He was on the International Board of Directors for the Building Commissioning Association and represented the BCA on an International Code Council (ICC) committee which worked on the ICC G4-2012 Guideline for Commissioning as part of the International Green Code (IgCC).
In early 2005 Michael Chelednik led formation of the BCA's Northeast Chapter. He served as its first Secretary, and was also a Board member until 2011. As a member of the BCA International Board of Directors, he served on several committees and in 2009 was elected its Secretary. Michael was the BCA liaison to the AIA and is the BCA's representative to the International Code Council (ICC) Commissioning Guidelines, and the International Accreditation Service (IAS) committee on commissioning certification. He had over 28 years of experience providing architectural design, program management and commissioning to transportation, retail, and corporate industries nationwide. He was a member of National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) in the Aviation Section and Architect, Engineers and Building Officials Section. Michael is survived by his wife of 29 years Corinne and his son Alexandre, his family in France and New Caledonia , aunts and uncles, cousins, friends and colleagues. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 10, 2016 between the hours of 4:00pm and 7:00pm at the Bouton Funeral Home 31 West Church Street Georgetown CT 06829.
