Michael L. Axel, born October 20, 1939, passed away on September 8, 2021 at his home in Redding, CT at the age of 81.  Michael leaves behind a son and daughter-in-law and his three grandchildren, as well as a step-daughter and her three children, all of whom cared deeply for him.  Always a loving father and very private figure, he came to be regarded by anyone who knew him as a gentle giant.  He grew up in Kew Gardens and together with his ex-wife raised their son in Manhattan, before Mike later made his home in Connecticut where he eventually passed.  He was surrounded by so many he loved, and special gratitude is owed to Miguela, John and Caroline for the love and care they have provided for Mike over the past several years.  He will be missed.
