Meri
Ogrinc
May 7, 1925 — Jan 19, 2022
Meri N. Ogrinc, age 96, passed away on January 19, 2022. The wife of Herman F. Ogrinc (deceased), Meri was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Married after World War II, she and Herman moved a few years later to Chagrin Falls, Ohio. There they raised their four children, in a lovely home that they had built with their own hands. Meri is survived by her children, Meribeth Ogrinc (Daniel Villarreal), Teresa Trebisky (Daniel), Rose Ogrinc (Bill Krivoshik), and Michael Ogrinc (Dean Ebesu).
Mom was an early women's libber, continuing her education after high school, and then working as an executive assistant and as a freelance reporter for a local newspaper. After her husband, Herman, passed, Meri and her older sister, Leona Tichy (deceased), lived together in Meri's home in Ohio. Meri and Leona relocated to Wilton, CT, eventually moving in with her daughter and family.
Even in her nineties, Meri loved family dinners, playing cards, gardening, and doing the New York Times crossword puzzles. Having a deep faith in God, Meri would read the Bible daily and was always happy to discuss her beliefs with you. A favorite pastime, was discussing politics with anyone willing to do so. Meri had a sharp wit, and her sassiness would certainly appear if you took an opposing political view.
Meri loved family and had a very special relationship with her grandchildren, Ana (Villarreal) Duflo, David Villarreal, Lizzy (Krivoshik) Martirano, Steve Krivoshik, and Sara Krivoshik. In her last years, Meri also had great fun being "GG" to her two great-grandchildren, Emma Rose Martirano and Liam Duflo.
An interment service will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that you make a gift in her memory to Jewish Senior Services; 4200 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604. To offer the family online condolences please visit www.boutonfuneralhome.com
