Obituary

Mary Cowan Voss, 96, completed a life well-lived on June 6, 2026.  Born August 31,1929 in Idaho Falls to Rosa and Charles Cowan, she spent many happy days there and at the cabin her father built on the Island Park reservoir before leaving to attend the University of Colorado in Boulder.

There she joined the Tri Delta Sorority and made lasting friends with many of her sorority sisters.  She graduated with an English degree and returned to her hometown to do secretarial work at the INL near Idaho Falls.  It was there she met her future husband, George Voss.  They married in 1953 and initially moved to Westport CT, then settled in Wilton where they made their home for many years.

Mary was involved in many activities, both social and volunteer.  Her devoted service to Minks to Sinks, The Treasure House and The Turnover Shop were well known and appreciated.  She also served as president of the Wilton Garden Club and she was a long-standing member of Silver Spring Country Club where she successfully competed in golf at a championship level for many years.

Mary had a full and vibrant life, full of resilience and strength which is testament to her longevity.

She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Georgia and Jacques Viret, Nancey and Alan Coppotelli, Meredith Lind, Sarah and Philip Cappelli, her grandchildren Mary Melaine and her husband, Ghislain, Jessica Doerner, Charles Lind, Olivia Lind, Katherine Cappelli, Nicholas Cappelli and Philip Cappelli, and her great-grandchildren, Molly and Benjamin Doerner and Georges Melaine.  She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 67 years, George Constantine Voss, her sister Nancy MacWilliams, and her son-in-law, David Lind.
