Price
d. May 29, 2020
Mary O'Connell Price, resident of Waterview Hills in Purdys, New York passed away at Northern Westchester Hospital on May 29, 2020 after a week long battle with Coronavirus. She was 95.
Mary was born on November 30, 1924 in New Canaan, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Daniel and Anna Knudsen O'Connell and was raised on their family farm with her four siblings. She often shared the story of her mother arriving at Ellis Island, planning for a short stay in America to visit relatives, ultimately deciding to stay in the country. Others stories she shared included those of her living through a great many events in our Nation's history, including the Great Depression; waiting on lines for rations during WWII; and working in factories to support the war effort.
On December 4, 1948, she married Robin J. Price, Sr., a WWII Army Veteran. They had four children together. Throughout their 60-year marriage, they resided in Vista and Middleburgh, New York and Ridgefield, Connecticut. Mary worked for various companies during the course of her career, including Brotherhood and Higley and Emmons and Company, both located in New Canaan, CT. She also worked for Saint John's Cemetery in Norwalk, CT for many years. In the Vista community during the 1960's, she was a member of the Vista Fire Department Women's Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed spending time knitting and crocheting.
Mary loved to spend her time with her family. She is survived by her sister Helen O'Connell Monroe of New Canaan; her four children, Cimberly Jostrand and her husband Eric of Shelton, CT; Melinda Moller and her husband Al of Elbert, CO; Duff Price and his wife Nonie of South Salem, NY; Randy Price and his wife Linda of Mahopac, NY; along with 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary is predeceased by her brother James O'Connell, and two sisters Anna O'Connell Duryea, and Margaret O'Connell Wakeman.
Among many things, Mary will be remembered for her love of family and her smile. She will be greatly missed. The family takes comfort knowing that she has been reunited with her beloved husband, Robin, also known as Poppa.
A private ceremony and committal will be held by her children at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan, CT. To offer her family online condolences please visit www.boutonfuneralhome.com
