Mary Elizabeth "Kip" Mueller, 88 of Rye, NY passed away February 1, 2016 in Riverdale, NY.

Kip was born an only child in Cincinnati OH to Herbert and Irene Mueller on January 28, 1928.  She went to high school in Winchester, MA.  She went on to attend Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania and graduated with a B.A. in Political Science.  She further studied at the Russian Institute at Columbia University and completed courses towards a MA in International Relations.  Between 1955-60, she worked as a Reporter/Editorial Researcher at Time Inc., where she worked on various publications including Architectural Forum and Time & Life Books.  In 1960 she married George Serra (later divorcing in 1978) with whom she had four children and with whom she worked on the family business (Chef Magazine) for many years.  She earned an MBA in Marketing from NYU Stern School of Business in 1983, later working in the NY metropolitan area for many years in marketing and financial editing for Standard & Poors.  Kip retired in her late seventies.

Kip was a curious person with interests in the visual arts, architecture, music, and literature.  Whenever she could, she would attend concerts, plays, and museum exhibits and would want to tell everyone about them.  She was also a strong supporter of public television; she never missed a good program and really liked Charlie Rose's interviews. She also enjoyed reading, skiing, hiking and spending time with family and friends.

Kip is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Irene.

Kip is survived by her 4 children; her son Christopher Serra, daughter Jacqueline Serra-Ruiz; son Alexander Serra; daughter Yolande Serra; 6 grandchildren Michael Ruiz, Christina Ruiz, Benjamin Serra, Ruby Serra, Calvin Serra and Ava Boyer.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the kind people working at the Hebrew Home in Riverdale, NY.

Bouton Funeral Home in Georgetown, CT is handling the funeral arrangements.  Her cremated remains will be interred at Hillside cemetery in Wilton, CT at a family plot where she will rest with her parents.

Memorial Services will be held in a private gathering at the home of her daughter Jacqueline Serra-Ruiz on Saturday April 2, 2016.
