Margaret Esther
Quinn
May 27, 1921 — Feb 4, 2023
Margaret Esther Quinn of South Salem, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the age of 101.
Born in Arlington, MA, on May 27, 1921, to the late Michael E. and Esther Gaddis, Margaret was the eldest of five children and loved each of her siblings unconditionally. On November 7, 1943, Margaret married Francis L. Quinn (Frank), with whom she had four children throughout their 42-year marriage.
We are comforted in knowing that Margaret is reunited with her parents; siblings Eleanor Finnerty (John), Edward Gaddis, Ruth Aulenback (Joe), and Robert Gaddis; husband Frank; and sons Michael J. Quinn and Paul B. Quinn. We are sure there was quite the welcoming party for Margaret at heaven's pearly gates.
Margaret lived a full and amazing life surrounded by family and friends who adored her. She was caring, loving, quick-witted, and strong-willed. Her family and friends were always top-of-mind and Margaret's love will remain with us forever.
Margaret loved getting her hair and nails done; talking on the phone with her siblings and family members; watching The Price is Right , Jeopardy , Wheel of Fortune , and Dancing with the Stars; and reading a good book or filling out a crossword puzzle. If she knew your favorite restaurant, she would look for a coupon in the newspaper to cut and give to you. Margaret never missed a birthday, always sending you a card and calling you. Her laughter was infectious, and her Massachusetts accent distinct.
If you wanted candy, ice cream or a "slice of pie", Margaret would have it ready. She loved having her family over for lunch or dinner, whether it be a BLT, chicken pot pie or goulash. Margaret was truly a one-of-a-kind special person. There will never be another like her and our memories of her will live forever. Simply put, she was the best and will leave a long-lasting impact on those who knew her.
Margaret is survived by her son Leo Quinn (Cathie) of Mequon, WI, her daughter Carol Peck (John) of South Salem, NY, and daughter-in-law Dianne Quinn of Downingtown, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Elizabeth Quinn, Kelly Quinn, Michael Quinn (Sharon), Amy Meenan (Sean), David Quinn, Shawn Quinn, Jeffrey Peck (Kimberly) and Michael Peck (Rebecca). Additionally, she is survived by her sister-in-laws Rachel Gaddis (Edward) and Marjorie Gaddis (Robert), five great grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and many nieces, nephews & cousins who all join us in missing her immensely.
A wake will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street, Georgetown, CT 06829.
