Lisa
Barrett
d. Oct 22, 2024
Almost two years ago Lisa was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma. The odds of beating it were low, but she fought hard. Unfortunately, her battle ended Tuesday October 22nd. We are all in awe of her strength and courage throughout her illness. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and friends and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Lisa leaves behind her son James, who is a senior in High School, her father Richard, her brother Jason and his wife Maria. Also, her Uncle Bill and Aunt Joyce.
Lisa was a staple in the town of Ridgefield, with her positive outlook, beautiful smile, incredible intelligence and great sense of humor. After running her own business, Oliver Barrett Fine Stationers, for more than 10 years, Lisa realized that her passion was in creating experiences for people. She left her lucrative career creating stationery for thousands of weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, births and parties, and moved into the world of Events and Marketing. As a volunteer, Lisa worked with Kids in Crisis, where she created and developed small and large-scale events and fundraisers with an amazing group of women. This led to her job at The Ridgefield Playhouse, where, with her incredible work ethic, she created a system of Marketing plans that helped grow the theater from presenting 80 shows a year when she first started there in 2008 to more than 200 shows annually when she left in 2022. Over her 14-year career at The Ridgefield Playhouse, Lisa helped to foster crucial relationships- not just with people in the media but also with other likeminded women in the community, which became the start of many deep friendships. In December of 2022 she was excited to make the move to a new theater, Sacred Heart University Community Theater, and work with many amazing and creative people until her illness no longer allowed her to work. Lisa's greatest achievement, however, was raising her son James, who was born in 2006. James was Lisa's pride and joy, and he plans on attending college next year. Lisa's greatest hope was that James would be taken care of in her absence.
As such, a GoFundMe was set up to help pay for James' future education. Please consider donating in memory of Lisa and the amazing legacy she left behind. https://gofund.me/c7d153c4.
She was a wonderful mother, friend, sister and daughter and she will be missed by many. There will be a gathering in her memory on Saturday November 2nd from 11am to 1pm at the pavilion on the East beach of Sherwood Island State Park.
