We are sad to announce the passing of Kathleen (Kay) DuBois Leone, our remarkable mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. She passed away on Monday, February 17, at age 97. Kay had the wonderful talent for easily engaging friends, old and new, and leaving them knowing her beautiful and sincere heart.

Born in Hartford, CT, in 1927, one of ten children, she grew up in West Hartford and was graduated from Hall High School.

Kay had a lifetime career in banking, starting as a teenager working part-time after school at Phoenix Bank in Hartford. She rose through positions in Community Banking throughout the Bank of America predecessor banks reaching vice president. She loved opening branch offices and engaging new staff and customers.

Kay and her late husband Joseph Leone built a home in East Hartford where they raised their daughter, Kathleen. They were spontaneous and always ready for an adventure, leaving their family with wonderful lessons to live by.

Kay left East Hartford after the loss of her husband and moved to Bethel to be closer to family. She loved to spend time helping others. Kay volunteered at Danbury Hospital where she greeted visitors. She also volunteered at Berry Elementary School. For the 12 years she was there, she thrived in the classroom, supporting teachers and forming meaningful connections with students. Her genuine and nurturing spirit made an impact on everyone she met.

Kay loved deeply and took great delight in her family. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Leone Land, her grandsons Anthony and Danny, grand-daughter-in-law Shelby Land and great-grandchildren Indigo and Teagin.
