Obituary

John G. Peterson, a proud Navy Master Chief who honorably served for 23 years, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 20, 2025, after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer and many years living with diabetes.

Known for his ever present smile and sharp sense of humor, he was a die-hard fan of the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, and a life-long lover of NASCAR.

John is survived by his beloved partner, his "angel," Sandy Franklin; her children and grandchildren, who loved and admired him deeply. He is also survived by his cousins, Thomas Morrissey and Donna Pascarella of Florida. His friendship with former coworker and lifelong friend Ivan Matos was one of true brotherhood and was a relationship he cherished.

He was predeceased by his mother Yvonne Peterson, father Frank Peterson, and brother Frank A. Peterson.

John expressed deep gratitude for the many doctors and nurses who cared for him during his illness.

He will be remembered with love, laughter, and honor.

In the words of General Douglas MacArthur: "Old sailors never die, they just fade away."
