Obituary

John Thomas McCormick affectionately known as "Toad" passed away on October 27, 2022 peacefully at home with his family by his side after a long battle with colon cancer. He was 63.John was predeceased by his parents John M. and Viola C. McCormick, sister Deborah L McCormick and is survived by a sister Cheryl M. Gartrell and her husband Jim of Norwalk, brother Michael McCormick and wife Patty of Westport, Stepdaughter Melody and granddaughter Brianna of Danbury.

John was born in Norwalk on January 6, 1959. He was a graduate of Wilton High School. John lived in Arizona for a short time, then moved to North Carolina where he lived for 15 years until he moved to Norwalk 10 years ago. John worked at Macri Parts and Service in Norwalk for the past 9 years.

John loved bowling, photography, furniture restoration and all things related to racing, especially NASCAR.

John had a big personality, he would light up a room when he came in. He had a great sense of humor and kept everyone laughing.

Generous, humble, gentleman, always putting others before himself..... these are the words his friends have used to describe him. As sick as John was at times he would still make time to help someone. John touched the lives of many, his selflessness and warm smile will be sorely missed.

Special thanks to the following people, Johns employer Macri Parts and Service, they went above and beyond what any employer would do and for that we are eternally grateful.
Teresa from Ridgefield Visiting Nurses Association, she was a caring and compassionate nurse and kept John comfortable right until the end. We felt very fortunate to have her.
The Oncology nurses at Whittingham Cancer Center at the Norwalk Hospital took great care of John during his journey as did Dr. Richard Frank.
Linda and Jimmy who always had John's back, they were wonderful friends to John and he loved them like family.
