Isabelle Kirkwood
Abbott
d. Dec 21, 2025
Isabella Kirkwood Abbott, 94, from Wilton, Connecticut passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025. She was born in Newburgh, New York, the daughter of Walter and Isabella Dear. In 1949, Isabella married her husband and life-long partner Charles Abbott of Wilton, CT, who passed away in 2016. They were married for 67 years.
Isabella was a beloved mother and grandmother whose life was defined by love and warmth. She found great joy in caring for others, often expressing that love through her baking and cooking. Her kitchen was a place of connection, where recipes were shared, stories were told, and everyone felt at home.
Above all else, Isabella treasured her family. As our matriarch, she was a constant source of support, strength, and unconditional love. Her presence made every gathering brighter. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she passed down and the countless memories she created with those she loved. Isabella will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always held close in the hearts of her family.
Isabella is survived by her daughters and husbands: Diane and Robert Fredette of North Clarendon, VT, Kathy and Clyde Baxter of Wilton, CT, and Jennifer and David Hewitt of Danby, VT; her sons and wives: John and Barbara Abbott of Rutland, VT, and Charlie and Laura Abbott of Bridgewater, CT; her sisters and brother-in-law: Carolyn Strempel, Marge Abbott, and Kenneth Abbott. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren: Michael, Jessica, Amanda, John, Carolyn, Andy, Steven, Emily, Kaitlin, Amy, and Jack; and her ten great-grandchildren: Natalie, Sophia, Avery, Luke, Joseph, Grace, Madelyn, Henderson, Freya, Nora, and much anticipated Great-grandson, Henry.
A Celebration of Isabella's life will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Wilton Congregational Church, 70 Ridgefield Road, Wilton CT 06997.
