Obituary

Helene Gatto, 77, of Wilton, Connecticut, passed away suddenly at her home on May 20, 2025.

Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Helene eventually settled in Wilton, where she had made her home for the past 30 years. A passionate and dedicated educator, she spent her career as a special education teacher, touching the lives of hundreds of children. Her love for teaching and deep compassion for her students were hallmarks of her life's work.

Helene was a lifelong learner, rarely seen without a book in hand. Her creativity was equally boundless—she designed and handcrafted exquisite jewelry and quilts, often gifting her beautiful creations to friends and loved ones.

Helene embraced life fully. She loved music, dancing, cooking, and traveling. Among her many adventures, a trip to Venice, Italy, remained a cherished memory she spoke of often. Known for her culinary talents, her home was always filled with the comforting aromas of something delicious simmering on the stove.

She was predeceased by her parents Matthew and Frieda (Formerly Luehr) Gatto and her beloved son, Jimmy Rosenberg. She is survived by her devoted son, Tom Rosenberg, and her brother, Michael Gatto.

Helene will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, creativity, and indomitable spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
