Obituary

Harry L. Whitehead, 85, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina passed away peacefully on July 11, 2018.  Harry was born on June 6, 1933 in Danbury, CT to the parents of Harry L. Whitehead, Sr. and Laura Staib Whitehead.  He graduated from Ridgefield High School in Ridgefield, CT, where he lived for many years.


He served as a Sargent in the United States Army in 1953 during the Korean War and graduated from an Army non-commissioned officer academy in Hawaii where he studied administrative procedures, leadership and the latest military techniques.


He spent the latter part of his career working for the Southern New England Telephone Company until his retirement.


In addition to his beloved wife, Kathleen Whitehead, he is survived by his children, Frank and his wife Donna of Plainville, MA, Rick and his wife Keri of Redding, CT, Timothy Whitehead of Centerville, MA, Lori Hobbs and her husband Ted of Midlothian, VA, and ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, his brother David (Noana) and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his son Gregory and sister Lois.


Calling hours will be on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Bouton Funeral Home 31 West Church Street,in Georgetown, CT from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Services will be held at 12:00 noon in the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Hull Cemetery in Redding, CT.
