Obituary

Guy H. Nielsen of Wilton CT and Quechee, VT  passed away after a long illness on Friday, July 1 at Norwalk Hospital. He was born in Hartford, CT. April 14, 1937. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Gail, his daughter Karen Schroeder, his son David Nielsen and wife Julie Nielsen and beloved grandchildren Andrew Schroeder and Michaela Nielsen, all of Bedford, NH. Guy was the son of Tove Hatting Nielsen and Peder Christian Nielsen and was proud of his Danish heritage.

Guy attended the University of Connecticut and was a graduate of the University of Hartford, majoring in economics and finance. He had a long career as an investment analyst, retiring from his business RV Equity Research. Previous employment included Scudder, Stevens and Clark in Boston, Brown Brothers Harriman in NYC, and Nutmeg Securities/Fieldpoint in Westport, CT. He shared his interest in finance with his daughter.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years, stationed in Germany, returning to Connecticut  to complete his college education. Guy's hobby was home construction and remodeling. Guy also enjoyed downhill skiing, cross country skiing, biking, hiking and extensive travel and reading.  Other interests included studying the Civil War and World War II, visiting historic sites and vintage air shows with his son.

Visiting hours will be at Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street,  Georgetown on Tuesday, July 5 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M.  A memorial service will be at the Wilton Congregational Church on Wednesday, July 6 at 10:00 A.M.  with a reception to follow. There will be a private burial at the Hillside Cemetery in Wilton. Contributions in his memory may be made to Stay at Home in Wilton or to the Salvation Army.
