Gladys (Dolly) Estelle Fowler, age 98, passed away peacefully at Wilton Meadows on Feb. 4, 2025. Born in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Johnson and Gladys Tompkins Johnson. She was the wife of the late Arthur Fowler who she married on Sept. 9, 1946. In her teenage years she worked for Pepperidge Farm and later worked in the Wilton School Lunch program for more than 50 years. Students called her "Dolly the adorable lunch lady." She loved round and square dancing. She is survived by her loving daughter, Nancy Schlichting; son-in-law David Schlichting; grandson Stephen Maksel and his wife Diane; grandson Scott Maksel and his wife Kirsty; six great-grandchildren Shane Maksel, Madeline Maksel, Bryce Maksel, Sofia Maksel, Abigail Maksel and Ryan Maksel. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Shields and many nieces and nephews.  A graveside service will be held on Monday, Feb. 10 at Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk at 11 am. Deacon Don Burr will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Strays and Others, Inc. P. O. Box 473, New Canaan, CT 06840 or to one's favorite charity in her name. The family would like to thank her at-home loving caregiver, Gloria Addy, and her dedicated caregivers at Wilton Meadows for the love and compassion shown to her.
