Fred Hunter
Collis Ii
Jan 12, 1949 — Aug 2, 2022
I would like to inform you my Dad, Fred H. Collis II, passed away peacefully at home, on August 2, 2022. My family had the honor of visiting with him for Father's Day weekend and it was a trip that we'll cherish forever.
Fritz, as he was known by, was an Eagle Scout at the age of 15, he went on to achieve two Eagle Palms before aging out of the program.
Fritz entered the Navy and served in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion and the National Rifle Association.
Fritz enjoyed photography, nature, and relaxing at home. He was a creature of habit and lived a very short radius from home. Growing up he would come home from work, look in the refrigerator and head to the store and get dinner. He'd then come home and relax watching his favorite shows until bedtime. Several times a week he'd journey off to friends' homes to socialize. Many times, he took me with him.
Fritz had a lot of friends but remained very private. After he retired from Wilton High School, serving 38 years as one of the head custodians, he began walking the town. More importantly he walked his own neighborhood daily. He was loved by all of his neighbors, and he enjoy his talks with them. As his health declined recently, he would ride the lawn mower or his truck to catch up with the goings on in the neighborhood up until his death.
Fritz is survived by his Son Fred H. Collis III, and his family. Kristi (wife), Sean, Hunter, and Taylor (Fritz's grandchildren).
Fritz will be greatly missed, and we would like to invite you for visiting hours at Bouton Funeral Home, Monday August 15, 2022 from 5pm-7pm, 31 West Church Street, Georgetown, CT.
Please join me on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 @ 10am for the burial at Hillside Cemetery. Full Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to St. Jude Children's research Hospital at www.stjude.org
