Frank Joseph Geronimo, age 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Ridgecrest in Redding Ct. He was the widower of Marie A. Geronimo.
Born in the Bronx, NY on September 2, 1928 he was the youngest of four children of Italian immigrants, the late Vito and Domenica San Antonio Geronimo. Frank grew up in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx where he began work at a young age in the family ice business and developed a strong work ethic which he carried throughout his life. Frank spent most of his working career in the commercial finance industry, retiring from Deutch Bank in 1998.
Frank was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx. In 1957, he married his beloved wife, Marie. In 1967, the family moved to Congers, NY, where Frank would become an active member of the Rockland County community for 42 years. He was involved with the Congers Little League, the Clarkstown Republican Committee, and later the Clarkstown Senior Citizens. Frank was a staple of Bluebird Drive and helped to form a neighborhood community of friends that exists to this day. In 2009, he moved to Hopewell Junction, NY where he was a passionate member of the East Fishkill and St Kateri Senior's groups. In 2020, Frank became a well-loved member of the Maplewood at Newtown community.
To all that knew him, Frank was an ever-positive presence and source of encouragement, He always had a friendly smile and a welcoming spirit. His family was the most important thing to him, he was a devoted husband, father, brother, son, uncle, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren. He was a passionate sailor with a lifelong love of the water and all things related to boats. In his later years, Frank enjoyed traveling and spending time at the casino with his family and friends.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Donna McGregor and son-in-law Tom McGregor, of Canton, NY, his son Vito (VJ) and girlfriend Erin DeLuca, of Redding CT, grandsons Matthew and Kyle, and granddaughter Marie. He is also survived by in-laws Nancy Fremont, Angie Sprio and others, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Marie, his sister Palma, and brothers Steve and Michael.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Frank on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 30 Church St. Redding CT 06896. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, NY. Friends may greet the family on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church St. Wilton CT 06829. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St Joseph's Regional High School in Montvale, NJ (www.stjosephregional.org).
