Erna Klara Brown, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving daughters Linda, Anita, and Nora.

Born on February 1, 1936, in Rippberg, Germany, Erna was the cherished daughter of Oskar Schmitt and Elisabeth Hirschel. She was predeceased by her siblings Marta Denk, Hilmar Schmitt, and Erwin Schmitt. Erna's memory will live on through her loving family: her daughters, Linda Miller and her husband, Johnny, of Westcliffe, CO, Anita Hayes and her husband, Michael, of Westport, CT, and Nora Dorste of Claryville, NY. She is also survived by her four adored grandchildren, who brought her great joy: Tyler and Shawn McNamara, Cody Dorste, and her birthday twin, Maeson Hayes.

In 1964, Erna immigrated to the United States. One of her proudest achievements was the day she became a U.S. citizen. Erna embraced life fully, with a passion for adventure, laughter, music, and playing games. Above all, her greatest love was her family. Her happiest moments were those spent just being together with her three daughters and grandchildren, whose lives she touched deeply with her love and spirit.

Erna's family will forever treasure the memories shared with her. She was the very essence of resiliency, a boundless source of love, and a shining light of joy. Her absence will be profoundly felt by all the lives she touched.

A mass in celebration of Erna's life will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 2 pm at St Patrick Church 169 Black Rock Turnpike, Redding CT.  Friends and loved ones are welcome.
