Edward Matthew Jamroga Jr. ("Edge"), 82, of Ridgefield, CT, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, from cardiac arrest.
Born on June 24, 1943, in Stamford, Connecticut, Edge lived a life defined by service, dedication, and quiet strength. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. After his military service, he joined the American Legion, where he remained a proud lifetime member.
A man deeply committed to his community, Edge volunteered as a firefighter with the Vista Fire Department and later served as Fire Police with the Ridgefield Fire Department. He was a skilled electrician and plumber by trade, and was equally known for his passion for woodworking, family game nights, and a lifelong commitment to helping others.
Edge was a proud Freemason and a lifetime member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, where he earned the distinguished title of Noble Grand. He was also an active and devoted member of Steven's Memorial United Methodist Church, where his faith and sense of community found a meaningful home.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Edith May Jamroga; his parents, Adaline and Edward Matthew Jamroga Sr.; and his daughters-in-law, Lori Rosa Schutte and Rose Schutte.
He is survived by his children: Mark Schutte, Charles Schutte Jr., Kyle McDarren, Keith Schutte, and Wanda Leavy; his children-in-law: Lori Schutte, Debbie McDarren, and Don Leavy; his brothers, Robert Jamroga and James Jamroga; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his legacy of love and generosity.
A wake will be held on Tuesday, July 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bouton Funeral Home in Wilton, CT. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday, July 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Steven's Memorial United Methodist Church, 8 Shady Lane, South Salem, NY. Burial will take place at Bald Hill Cemetery, 825 Ridgefield Road, Wilton, CT, with Full Military Honors followed by a reception back at Steven's Memorial Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ridgefield Fire Department or the Visiting Nurse Association, organizations that reflect Edge's lifelong spirit of service.
