Obituary

Donald (Don) Hall Harris 12/15/37 - 1/4/2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Hall Harris, 87, of Wilton, CT, on January 4, 2025. Born December 15, 1937, in St. Louis, to Ann (Chittenden) Ferris Harris and Joseph Sanford Harris.

Don grew up in Bronxville, NY, along side his older sister, Joan (Chittenden) Harris  (Spencer, Villamana) and received a BS in Geology from Ohio Wesleyan University and an MBA from New York University. He had a successful career in Sales and Marketing which included starting his own company.

Don had an amazing way of connecting with people. Despite enduring the horrible tragedy of losing a child as a young adult, he was never bitter or morose. His greatest strength was his sense of empathy. He was always curious and made anyone feel seen and heard no matter the topic of conversation. He had a keen sense of humor and an easy laugh. He loved meeting new people and the adventure of where a conversation might go.

Don loved the great outdoors. Whether he was riding a motorcycle or bicycle, hiking, sailing, skiing, golfing, or fishing, he embraced nature and wanted to "take it all in". He also loved "team events" which meant gathering as many friends and family members to join him on these wonderful outings as he could. At heart, Don was an artist. He enjoyed expressing himself through sculpture, music, jewelry making, and painting.

Don was married three times. First, to Prudence Glenn, with whom he shares a daughter, Whitney Goetz. He was married briefly to Laralee Glass. Suzanne Douglas and Don enjoyed a long marriage and cherished their blended family of children and grandchildren. He was her steadfast caregiver as she battled a lengthy illness and was heartbroken upon her death in 2022.

Don is predeceased by his daughter, Ashley, his sister, Joan Spencer Villamana, and his wife, Suzanne Douglas Harris. He is survived by his daughter, Whitney Goetz, and Suzanne's children, Tim Douglas and Caroline Moore. Children-in-law Will Goetz, Lori Salmeri, and David Moore, and grandchildren Hannah Goetz, Harry Goetz, Enzo Douglas, James Moore, Andrew Moore, and Mikey Moore. He also leaves behind three nieces, Luci Krusz, Kim Rael, and Molly Simmons and their families, as well as the Morgan families.
