Diane Margery
Hack
Jun 13, 1930 — Jan 3, 2018
Diane Margery Hack, aged 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Redding, CT on January 3, 2018. Miss Hack was born June 13, 1930 in Brighton, England, the daughter of the late John and Gladys Hack.
In the early 1960s, Diane emigrated to the U.S. and began a career in the secretarial field. While living in New York City, she worked for the Xerox Corporation. Later, after moving to Redding to live with Ethel (Lynn) Linn, she opened a small employment agency in Westport, CT.
Diane volunteered for many years at the Mark Twain Library where she processed many of the new books. She often referred to the library staff as her "family."
She enjoyed simple pleasures. A cup of tea, Hobnobs, the BBC, British mysteries and the company of the many feline friends who passed through her life, all brought her enjoyment. There were many people she cared about and who cared about her.
Diane leaves a cousin, Cyril Kendrick and his wife, Margaret, in South Australia and dear friends, Marina and Harold McCallum, in Southwick, England.
At Diane's request, the interment will be private. The burial will take place at St. Julian's Churchyard in Shoreham, Sussex, England, where Diane will be laid to rest beside her Mum and Dad. The Bouton Funeral Home in Georgetown, CT, is handling the arrangements.
Memorial contributions in Diane's name may be made to the Mark Twain Library, P.O. Box 1009, Redding, CT 06875 or Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS), 147 Grassy Plain Street, Bethel, CT 06801.
