David Eugene Thomas

1942 – 2026

David Eugene Thomas, aged 83, of Redding, CT passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026. Born in Chicago, IL October 12, 1942, David spent his youth in Darien, CT and made Redding, CT his home for the past 52 years.

David was a man of fidelity, best defined by his 61-year marriage to his beloved wife, Nan Elizabeth Thomas (Hinlicky). Together, they built a legacy of love that spans three generations. David was known for his tax savvy, construction expertise, love of cars and auto racing, all things Hawaii, golf, and an avid collector.

He is survived by his wife, Nan; his brother, Scott E. Thomas; and his sister-in-law, Linda Wolcott (Hinlicky). His memory lives on through his children: Keith I. Thomas (wife Barbara), Stephen E. Thomas (fiancée Kim), and Erin E. T. Pavao (husband Matthew).

"Grandpa/Grandfather" will be deeply missed by his five grandchildren: David, Lindsay, Corey, Madison, and Aiden; and his three great-grandchildren: Makency, Leo, and Ricky. He also leaves behind his niece and nephews: Jim, Renee, Jason, and Adam, along with a community of friends across the globe.

David was preceded in death by his father, Delbert E. Thomas; his mother, Betty Crockett; and his brother, Richard "Dicky" Thomas.
