Obituary

Christopher P. Barrett, age 79 of Georgetown, CT, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Regional Hospice, The Center for Comfort Care & Healing in Danbury, CT, with his loving family by his side.

Born in Norwalk, CT on January 16, 1946, to Robert and Anne Barrett.  He was one of 8 children.  His loving wife of 55 years and best friend since Kindergarten, Verna Barrett, predeceased him, as did his parents and his brother's Gerry and Jim.  In his early years he ran his family's Sunoco Gas Station in Georgetown, raced cars at Dover Drag strip, rode motorcycles, was a National Guardsman, earned an associate's degree in mechanical engineering from Norwalk Technical College and attended the FBI academy in Quantico, VA.  Ultimately, he became a Civil Servant, dedicating his entire life to helping others and being a first responder.  Christopher was a loyal member of the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department for 63 years and retired in 1997 as Captain of the Wilton Police Department.  He was a devoted Husband to his late wife and remained a devoted Dad and Papa, till he took his last breath.

He was an avid bowler and league member at Nutmeg Bowling Lanes in Fairfield, for many years.  He was always the first one to arrive, the first one to leave and was always a step ahead of everyone.  His passions were spending time with his family, visiting with friends and feeding the wildlife that meandered onto his property daily, especially the birds, turkeys, chipmunks and squirrels.  Hummingbirds were his favorite to feed and observe during the summer months.  With his late wife by his side, he traveled by car to 49 of the 50 US states.  He would have hit all 50 states if there was a bridge to Hawaii.  He is survived by his daughter Cheryl Muniz, son Daniel Barrett, son-in-law Victor Muniz, his Brother's Bob(Inez), Mike, Kevin(Nancy), Ted(Kathy) and Sister Kathleen(Mike), granddaughter Victoria Muniz, Grandson Matthew Muniz, brother-in-law Eric(Britt), as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  He will be missed greatly by all that knew and loved him.
