Obituary

Christian Franz Mueller, 85, of Redding, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Danbury Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Marion (Klose) Mueller, and they had just celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary together on April 18.

Christian was born in Guhra, Germany, son of Georg and Maria Mueller, on October 8, 1938. He immigrated to the United States in his early twenties, where he met the love of his life, Marion, who he married on April 18, 1964. They raised two sons together, and called Redding home for the last 50 years. As a veteran of the 101st Airborne Division, he served his country with honor and distinction. Professionally, he excelled as a service manager at Pray Motor and Valenti Motors, demonstrating unwavering dedication and integrity in all endeavors. In retirement, he continued his commitment to serving others through employment at the Mark Twain Library and his work with Literacy Volunteers. Beyond his service, he was an avid tennis player, finding joy and companionship on the court. Christian was a remarkable individual whose life was defined by a profound thirst for knowledge and a boundless spirit of generosity. He spent countless hours learning Spanish, and embraced the beauty of nature through his passion for hiking, traversing trails wherever he could find them. He leaves an indelible mark of kindness, curiosity, and service that will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Besides his wife Marion, he is survived by two sons, Eric (Kristi) of Marion, Iowa, and Paul (Louise) of Redding. Christian was an amazing Opa to Sarah Marie and Kyle Christian, both of Marion, Iowa. He is also survived by his brother Siegfried (Gudula), and two sisters-in-law, Lucia and Margitta. His furry and faithful friend, Buddy, will miss him tremendously.

He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Johannes and Peter.
