Charles Edward
Nessel
d. Jan 6, 2024
Charles Edward "Ed" Nessel, son of Charles and Mary (Romito) Nessel and beloved husband of Leona (Kotch) Nessel for 49 years was born on March 1st 1947 in Georgetown CT. He graduated from Wilton High School in 1965 and worked in the printing trade (Currie Litho, CT Printing) and as a golf course assistant at Richter Park and Winged Foot Golf Clubs. "Ed used to say that if you played golf, bowled or played softball he has probably met you. Although he might have only saw you on the field, course or lanes, he considered all of you as friends. Umpiring and playing softball for 50 years, he was involved in over 6000 games." Ed was a former president of the Danbury Industrial Softball League, coached Little League Baseball for 7 years and was a Life Member of Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department.
Ed enjoyed golf with lifetime friends, especially Ed, Dave, Bob, Dennis and many others. He loved to garden and give the produce away to whomever wanted it. He was always planting too much to eat by himself and for several years maintained over 100 tomato plants. Ed had a good sense of humor, was always quick with a joke and had one for every occasion. His favorite holiday was Groundhog Day and since he was the only celebrant, the groundhog bestowed him with many presents. He loved everyone and especially liked talking to the elderly and to children. He leaves behind his wife Leona, his sons Douglas and Eddie and his wife Christina, his brother John and wife Jo Ann, nieces Pam Nessel and Christa Vontell and her husband Rob and daughter Talia and his nephew Keith McGivern and wife Penny and many cousins around the country. He was predeceased by his parents and by his brother Tom.
