Charles Driscoll Hogan, Jr. of Wilton died peacefully at his home on December 1st with his loving daughter Patti at his side. The eldest of three sons, he was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on August 7, 1927, to Charles D. Hogan and Henrietta (Schwietering) Hogan. He attended Xavier High School and graduated from Xavier University. Mr. Hogan served in the U.S. Coast Guard, and with the United States Marine Corps in Korea, attaining the rank of second lieutenant.
On January 2, 1954, Mr. Hogan married Mary J. Kittredge of Clinton, Massachusetts, an Air Force nurse and fellow Korean War veteran. Together they raised three children, and lived in such varied locations as Boston, Philadelphia, Montclair, New Jersey, and Edina, Minnesota, before settling in Wilton, where they resided for 48 years. During a long career with Time, Inc., Mr. Hogan worked as an advertising sales executive for both Life and Time magazines, retiring as Time Magazine's U.S. Advertising Sales Director.
A lifelong avid reader, Mr. Hogan served on the board of the Wilton Library and worked alongside his wife for several years organizing and staffing the annual library book sales.
Predeceased by his beloved grandson D.J. and his brother Donald J. Hogan, Mr. Hogan is survived by his brother James Hogan, of Cincinnati, Ohio, his three children, Kathleen A. Hogan (Ted Becker) of Waldoboro, Maine, Patricia Hogan Tait (Ross Tait) of Wilton, and Charles D. Hogan, III (Kathleen Burke Hogan) of Bedford, New Hampshire, along with seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Hogan on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 30 Church Street, Redding CT 06896. Friends may greet the family prior to the funeral service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street, Georgetown CT 06829. Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery, Wilton with full military honors. To offer online condolences to the family please visit www.boutonfuneralhome.com
