(Dick) Blundell
May 24, 1929 — Apr 1, 2026
C. Richard Blundell, 96, known to all who loved him as Dick, of Redding, formerly of Wilton and Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Burke for over 50 years.
Born in Marshall, Illinois, Dick was the son of the late Charles L. Blundell and Margaret Gunder. He served proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean War and later attended the University of Illinois, an institution that remained a lifelong source of pride for him.
Following graduation, Dick held several positions that ultimately led him to an over 30‑year career with General Foods, where he retired as Vice President of Personnel.
An avid golfer, Dick played many famous courses throughout the world. He was a longtime member of Silver Spring Country Club in Ridgefield and especially cherished his years living and golfing in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. A devoted sports fan, he loved his Chicago Cubs and was thrilled to see them win the World Series in 2016. He was also a loyal supporter of University of Illinois basketball and Notre Dame football. Above all else, Dick loved his family.
In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by his children Mike, Chris (Krista), Tom (Tiffany), and his daughter Amy. He is also survived by his grandchildren Sara, Michael, Zachary, and Danica. He was predeceased by his first wife, Arden, and by his youngest son, David.
