Obituary

Betty L. Palazzo, passed away at the age of 82 on March 9, 2026. She is survived by her 3 sisters, Audrey C. Dotson, Shirley A. Lawarre, and Sandy K. Quillin and her husband Anthony J. (Tony) of 55 years. She was predeceased by her brother Jesse E. Newman Jr., the oldest of the family and sisters Mary R. Reed and Linda F. Frost.

Betty was born 50 miles southeast of Cincinnati in West Union, Ohio the middle child of Helen Ruth (Fronk) Newman and Jesse Earl Newman's seven children. She moved to Dayton, Ohio where she met her future husband. They moved back to Connecticut upon her husband's discharge from the Air Force. She worked in corporate America as an executive assistant from 1967 to 1979 and worked for companies like Conoco, Inc. and Burndy Corp. Betty's faith and her family were her anchors in life. She enjoyed church activities and making joyful noises with the choir. She was church secretary for the Wilton Baptist Church for five years up until 1984. She continued working in the business field up until 1995. She then took a different path and was a family caregiver/nanny for the next 3 years. Betty loved taking care of the 3 children, it was one of the joys of her life. That led her to King & Low-Heywood Thomas School in Stamford where she was middle school secretary. The parents and kids loved her and it was a very rewarding job for her. She retired in 2006.

Betty was a kind and gentle person and was very connected to her five sisters and brother. She enjoyed being outside working in the garden and enjoyed being around her cats, which were like her children. They kept her busy bringing her gifts they had caught in the grounds around the house.
