Obituary

Tony (Helmut) Klettner, 68, of Danbury CT, husband of Angela Klettner, father of Annelise Klettner, brother of Joseph Klettner, and son of the late Anna and Anton Klettner, passed away suddenly at Danbury Hospital on Thursday evening, January 6 th , 2022. Tony is survived by his wife Angela of Danbury, his daughter Annelise of Wilmington, NC, his brother Joseph and Joseph's two sons Anton and Joseph, his other nephews John Mitchell and Frankie Ruiz, and his niece Carly Mitchell.

Tony was born in Manhattan, NY on April 9 th , 1953, and raised in the Bronx, NY for 27 years. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics in 1975 from Fordham University. Shortly after, Tony started his career at General Reinsurance Corporation from 1976 to 1988 in various positions progressing from actuarial to the client audit team and finally to account manager in a marketing/underwriting role supporting several account executives. In 1976, he met his wife Angela and in 1980, they were married and purchased their first home in Shelton, CT where their daughter, Annelise, was born. In 1996, he relocated with his wife to South Salem, NY and then to Danbury, CT in 2005. As a successful, driven, and dedicated man, Tony was a senior vice president at Swiss Re Life & Health America for 12 years. Having an aptitude for business, marketing, and finance, Tony undertook various roles in the management of insurance underwriting and continued his career at 2 Wings Risk Services in April 2016 as a reinsurance professional, aiding in the systems and processes that align the interests of reinsurers and insurance carriers. In recent years, his ever-present thirst for knowledge was evident as he enrolled in economics courses at a local college to enhance his understanding of the business world.

Tony had a niche for computers, fixing machines and cars, watching sports on television, shopping, basketball, golf, and playing with electronics. With his love for music and technology, Tony's dream was to build his own studio of computers and stereo systems. He also enjoyed attending musical performances of his brother's two sons. Tony was not only a hardworking and intelligent person, but he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and uncle. He loved his family dearly and did anything to help them when they needed support. Tony was also kind, compassionate, caring, and selfless. He will be deeply missed and forever hold a special place in our hearts.

A mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday, January 14 th at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at 10AM followed by burial at St. Mary's Cemetery both located in Ridgefield, CT. The family will receive friends at Boutons Funeral Home, 31 W Church Street, Georgetown, CT, on Thursday, January 13 th from 4PM to 8PM.
