Anthony David
Delia
Jan 14, 1940 — May 24, 2016
Anthony David Delia, 76, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Barbara J. Delia.
Anthony was born on January 14, 1940, in Summit, NJ. He was the son of the late Anthony and Estelle Delia. Anthony went to Fairleigh Dickinson University and later went on to earn a Master's degree in chemistry at Depauw University in Greencastle, IN. While out taking pictures of landscapes after a recent snowstorm, he met Barbara who would soon become his bride of over 50 years.
After living in Chicago, IL and West Orange, NJ for a few years, Anthony and Barbara settled in Redding, which would become their hometown for over 46 years. Anthony worked at Clairol and later started his own consulting firm where he developed packaging for household and personal care products.
Anthony was a man of many hobbies which included tinkering with clocks, woodworking, grafting apple trees, beekeeping and collecting tractors.
Those who knew Anthony, knew a man of endless kindness, generosity, humbleness, and love of all nature. Anthony's love of nature led to many years of sharing fruits from his orchard, vegetables from his garden and honey from his hives.
Anthony touched many lives with his inventions, designs, and formulas. And he will be missed dearly, but never forgotten.
Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Daniel Delia and his wife Jennifer; daughter Laura Mario and her husband Tyler; daughter-in- law Karen Delia; nine beautiful grandchildren; sister Judith Cashill and brother George Delia. He was predeceased by his son, David Delia and his brother, Michael Delia.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the First Church of Christ Congregational, 25 Cross Highway, Redding, CT.
