On November 8, 2014, Ann McGregor Salamanca, age 74, graceful and beloved mother, wife, grandmother and friend passed peacefully after a second courageous battle with melanoma. Ann was born in Stafford, England to Matthew and Kathleen McGregor. She was a resident of Redding Ridge, CT for the last 24 years. "Mum", "Nanni", "Lady Ann" with her shock of white hair and cheerful British accent was never at a loss for words or a point of view. She had an endless energy for life that engaged everyone who crossed her path. Her sense of style and love of fashion came from her art school training and early career as a fashion designer. Ann was the ultimate caretaker - whether it was her beautiful home and garden, a cup of tea and a shoulder to lean on or her many years as a volunteer at Norwalk Hospital and Bread & Roses AIDS Hospice. She loved being a mother and wished every happiness for her children who were her greatest joy. Ann's wish is for us all to celebrate her very full life to the sound of bagpipes playing "Amazing Grace" - knowing that it will fill us all with the swell of joy and love that she had in her heart; she wants us to smile, laugh and enjoy everything as she did. She is now in the company of her first husband of 24 years and father of her four children, Trevor Eke, her parents, brothers Robert and Matt, sister-in-law Eileen, daughter-in-law Sheri, and her friends with whom a glass of wine and good laugh will last forever. Ann is survived and dearly missed by her husband Captain Raymond Salamanca with whom she travelled the world and shared the past 24 years; her oldest daughter Therese Eke and husband Bruce Barrett, children Robbie & Sarah; middle daughter Josephine Eke and husband Jason Valk; youngest daughter Rosanne (Eke) and husband David Hermenze, children Becky, Robert & Mike; son Michael Eke & wife Joyce Blazek Eke, children Zac, Gavin, Gabby, Logan and Aydan; step daughter Beth Salamanca and partner Norma Lester. Ann treasured the time she spent with her grand children who made her laugh, smile and so very proud - she will always be there, cheering them on as they move through their lives. Ann's vivacious spirit and zest for life and all that it has to offer will live on in our hearts and memories forever. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 11am, First Church of Christ, 25 Cross Highway, Redding, followed by a celebration of Ann's life at 12:30pm at the Spinning Wheel, 109 Black Rock Turnpike, Redding. In lieu of flowers, the family will appreciate a contribution to Masonicare Home Health and Hospice, 147 Toddy Hill Road, P.O.
